We have a Release and Refresh class in 2 short days!—this Wednesday, June 11th, 7:00-8:30 PM. If you have never attended one of these classes here before, this is the perfect place to start, because we will do a full orientation at the start of class and we also demonstrate all of the stretches and the positioning at the beginning and give you a chance to try them all out for your body and figure out what bolsters, blankets, and props you need to make the position work best for you, no matter your body shape, size, and type, and with your personal preferences honored and given space.
This class is unique in that the idea is NOT to check your issues at the door, only to have you go right back out the door, no more equipped to deal with those issues. In this class, you are invited to bring your issues, bring your dysregulation, bring your pain! Because of our deep understanding of trauma, we are actually trained in guiding you to find calm and regulation AMIDST the issue, the stressor, the pain.
So bring it! And we're not gonna TALK about it in this class, this isn't talk therapy or group therapy, but we ARE going to do nervous system exercises and stretches that gently facilitate your awareness of how your body is holding and expressing the stress and we're gonna guide you in how to move THROUGH and OUT OF that high stress state.
This is very different than guiding you AWAY from the stressor, which doesn't teach your nervous system anything other than how to run away from stress! In here, we guide you not how to move away from, but how to move THROUGH and OUT OF high stress states. And that is the act of rewiring your nervous system and retraining your brain and body how to be more resilient amidst stress.
